In this article/video i will show you how you can create an ISO File (Disk Image File) directly on the iPad. You don’t need a Desktop for that. I have a couple of Folders that i would like to put into an Archive File like a ISO. And its actually super easy. Let me show you how this works.

Why do I even want to use ISO files on my iPad?

With the Emulator UTSM i installed Windows on my iPad. And i would like to open some files through a ISO (Disk Image File) into the Virtual Machine.

In my Files App on my iPad i have a Folder with all the Warcraft Files. I want to create an ISO File from that Folder so i can load it into the Virtual Machine.

How To add Files to a ISO Archive on the iPad?

I found a free App called “Unarchiver” in the Appstore that normally creates ZIP and RAR Files. But when you look at the description it also supports ISO Files.

1. How To open an ISO File with Unarchiver on iPad?

When you open Unarchiver you have two options. You can open an ISO File or Create an ISO File.

When you open an ISO File navigate to the ISO File you want to open. In my example i select the Windows 98 ISO File.

Then you see your ISO on the left side and all the Files on the right. From here you can share, open what ever you like to do with these files.

2. How To create an ISO File with Unarchiver on iPad?

To create an ISO File click on “Make Archive”.

Change the Format to ISO.

If you don’t want to include hidden files you can also toggle this on: “Ignore Hidden Files (Dot-Prefixed)"

To add files and folders to the archive click on the plus icon.

When you only Add Files it will ignore any Folder structure. All my Files are already organised into a folder. That’s why i select “Add a single Folder”.

Open the Folder you want to add to the ISO Archive.

Then simply click on Open.

Now you see the Folder in the Content list. You could add additional folders and files. When done click on “Compress”.

After the compression into the ISO File is done click on “Save to …”.

Select the location where you want to save it too and you can change the name if you like. I called mine “WAR2 Test YouTube”.

When we open the iPad Files App and go to the location of the ISO File we can see it successfully created the ISO File.

How to load ISO File into UTM Virtual Machine on iPad

Inside of UTSM with my Windows Virtual Machine i can add a new ISO File.

Select the ISO we just created.

And now under the CD ROM drive i see the Folder WAR2 and all the files inside.
