In this article i will show you how you can unzip (extract) ZIP, 7zip and RAR Files on your iPad or iPhone. The cool thing for just ZIP Files you don’t even need a third party app. The Apple Files App can handle this. But to open the 7zip and the RAR files we will a cool free app.

Solution 1: How to open ZIP Files on the iPad via Files App

If you simply click on a ZIP File in the Files App it will start extracting the ZIP File to the same location and create a Folder with the same name.

Solution 2: How to open 7Zip and RAR Files via a App on the iPad/iPhone

For iPad and iPhone there is a FREE App (you don’t even need the paid App) that can handle ZIP, 7zip and RAR Files. It’s called “íZIP - Zip Unzip Unrar”.

To open the 7zip or RAR File you have to copy the file to the iZip Folder. Select the file and right click and choose “Move”.

A popup window that will ask you “Would you like to unzip all files?” - Click on OK.

After that on the same location where the 7zip or RAR file was located there is a new Folder with the same name. You can open this in the Files App. Done, your welcome.
