Where to find the Voice Over tool in the Cut Page of DaVinci Resolve iPad

Voice over is something every filmmaker needs. With DaVinci Resolve 21 we got AI voice over, but we still couldn’t record our own voice in the Cut Page on the iPad. That changed now. I couldn’t find this feature in the official update notes, but it is there in version 21.1. I will cover all the other new features of this update in a separate video.
How to use an external microphone for Voice Over on the iPad

I connected my Shure podcast microphone via USB-C and I could select it right away as the input device. So you are not stuck with the built-in iPad microphone.
Voice Over Settings: Monitoring, Countdown and Prompter

• Monitoring: If you have headphones connected, you can listen to what your microphone is sending even before you start recording. I find this annoying because of the echo, so I set it to mute.
• Countdown: You can switch from no countdown to a 3 second countdown. I like the 3 second countdown because it gives you time to get ready.
• Prompter Overlay: You can also enable a prompter overlay if you want to use one while recording.
How to record a Voice Over in DaVinci Resolve iPad
Place your playhead where you want the voice over to start and tap Record. With the 3 second countdown you will see 3, 2, 1 and then the recording starts. When you are done, tap Stop.

Now you can play it back right away and check how it sounds. That’s it. Finally we can record our own voice over in the Cut Page on the iPad. Thank you Blackmagic Design! And if you find other hidden features in version 21.1, let me know in the comments of the video.
