How To Fast MATRIX Effect in DaVinci Resolve iPad

In this article i will show you how you can create the Matrix Effect very simple and fast using DaVinci Resolve for the iPad. To create this you could use third party plugins like for example the Matrix Pack from MotionVFX. They look amazing and are super simple to use. But DaVinci Resolve also has a build in Matrix Effect that you can use. Have Fun learning.

Step 1: Add an Adjustment Clip to your Timeline.

Important, for this Tutorial we need the EDIT PAGE and the FUSION PAGE of DaVinci Resolve for the iPad.

Extend the Adjustment Clip so it sits on top of both clips. I want the effect to be over both clips, thats why.

Step 2: Go to the Fusion Page and Delete the first Node.

Select the Adjustment Clip and change to the Fusion Page. The first node, we don’t need, so you can select it and DELETE it.

Step 3: Add the Matrix Effect Node

In the Effects Tab under Templates search for “Matrix” and Drag & Drop the Matrix Effect to your Timeline.

Connect the output of the Matrix Node with the Input of the MediaOut1.

Step 4: Change the Composite Mode to “ADD”

Now we can come back to the Edit Page and we will already see the Matrix symbols on the screen. But we don’t see the clips below yet.

Select the Adjustment Clip and open the inspector. Change the Composite Mode to “Add”. Now you see the Clips below and the Matrix Effect. Done.
