DaVinci Resolve iPad: MAGIC MASK Version 2.0

In this article/video i will show you the new updated version of Magic Mask a powerful selection and tracking tool in the Color Page of DaVinci Resolve for iPad. This is a Studio only Feature. How to select an Object with Magic Mask V.2?

To select an object simply click on the pipette+ icon and click in the viewer window on the object. And for better results you can even add more points before you start tracking the object. In my example i used 3 points.

How to track Object with Magic Mask V.2?

The reason we click the icon with both directions is because our points where made in the middle of the clip. So the clip still has frames left forward and frames left backward. If you do your selections at the very first frame at the start you could also simply click on the icon with only the arrow forward.

How to use Magic Mask V1 (Legacy Option)?

The new AI for Magic Mask Version 2 does a much better job with selecting object and even following objects through hidden objects. But the new AI also needs way more time. Like in my example just a 10sec clip took minutes to render. But even the AI from Magic Mask V1 was already decent and did a great job for most objects. So what if we have simple objects and want to save time? Yes we still can use the Legacy option. In this video here i show you how:
