How to use Ripple Timeline Markers in DaVinci Resolve iPad

In this article today i will show you how you can make your Timeline Markers stay on the same position on the Timeline even when you use the Ripple Delete function. This is also an advanced tip for using Markers with DaVinci Resolve for the iPad. This builds on the foundation, that you already know how to use Markers. Step One: What is the Problem with Timeline Markers?

In this example we have a timeline Marker in blue. We also lock Visual and Audio Track 1. Because we want to do a Ripple Delete without touching the Track 1.

After the Ripple Delete Track 1 stays where it was (as we intended to do) but when you look at the Timeline Marker, it got moved to the left as well. But what if that Marker should stay on the same position?

Step Two: How to use the Ripple Timeline Markers?

Open the Shortcuts Menu (Option + Command + K) and search for “Ripple Timeline Marker”. Give it a shortcut.

The Ripple Timeline Marker is a Toggle ON/OFF function. When we use the shortcut the function is ON.

When we now use our Ripple Delete you will see that the Timeline Marker stays at the same position.

Attention: When the Ripple Timeline Markers is ON. It will always ignore any Ripple Delete. That means, even if we unlock Video and Audio Track 1 and execute the Ripple Delete. The Marker would stay in the same position. If you don’t want that anymore you have to use the Shortcut again to Toggle the feature OFF.
