In this video/article i will show you the Full Size Audio Mixer in the Cut Page of DaVinci Resolve for iPad. We finally got the Audio Mixer and with it two more amazing Audio Feature Tools. The EQ (equalizer) and the Dynamics Effect where both missing in the iPad Version. But now with introduction of the Audio Mixer we can use these two audio effects as well. Let me show you how.

How to open the Full Size Audio Mixer in the Cut Page of DVR iPad

Since the release of DVR for iPad we always had the Mixer icon in the top right. But it always opened an empty window (It still is empty in the EDIT PAGE and FAIRLIGHT PAGE).

Important: As of this recording the Audio Mixer is only available on the Cut Page of DVR for iPad. The Edit Page and the Fairlight Page still have an empty Mixer Window but i think this is still good news. Because we might are only a few updates away to also get the Audio Mixer in these two pages. And without a working Audio Mixer it makes sense that Blackmagic Design does not want to official lunch the other two pages. But when the Audio Mixer works we are also closer to a official release of the other two pages. Of course just my opinion… i could be wrong xd

In the Audio Mixer window when you click on the little icon on the top right you can expand this window to full size as an overlay on top of the timeline.

How does the Audio Mixer work?

Basic idea of the Audio Mixer is that you can individually change the volume of each Audio Track like in a real Mixer.

On top of the Volume sliders you can single an Audio Track with the "S" button ore mute it with the "M" Button. You can also change the Pan from left to right side.

How to open the Dynamics Audio Effect in DaVinci Resolve iPad?

On top of each audio track you will also find these 3 icons. FX (Audio Effects), DY (Dynamics) and the EQ (Equalizer). When we click on the DY this will open the Dynamics Effects Window for that specific audio track.

In the Dynamics Audio Effect Window you will find effects like a Limiter and a Compressor. And all the changes you do here will only be applied to the selected Audio Track.

How to open the EQ (Equaliser Audio Effect) in DaVinci Resolve iPad?

The other new Audio Effect is the EQ.
The other new Audio Effect in the Audio Mixer is the EQ.
With the Equalizer you can change the overall different frequencies. Like boost the bass and cut the high Frequency.

There are also a couple of presets you can already choose from or save your own settings into a preset. For example there is a Dialog Male Preset.

And you see the EQ changes to the preset settings. And all of these are applied same like with the Dynamics before only to the selected Audio Track. That means every audio clip you place on this audio track will get these settings applied.

How to add Audio Effects to entire Audio Tracks in DVR iPad?

To understand the FX icon you have to know that DVR for iPad has a ton of Audio Effects that you can apply either to a clip directly or you can drag & drop it straight to the Audio Track. Then same like the DY and EQ these audio effects will be effecting the entire track.

To see what Audio Effects you already applied to the audio track, select the audio track and open the inspector. The third icon shows the effects.

Each audio effect has his own effects window. If you closed it and want to come back to the settings simply click on the little settings icon on the right of the effect.

Info: The first icon “FX” in the Audio Mixer simply opens the Audio Effects Tab in the Inspector for that specific Audio Track.

Raping this article up, even if the Audio Mixer is still missing in the Edit and Fairlight Pages with all the different Audio Effects and the introduction of the full size Audio Mixer and EQ and DY in the Cut Page, the iPad Version is now capable of performing some serious Audio editing and mixing.
